About Elaine

Born at Blakes in Elson, Elaine has lived in Gosport her entire life. She married her husband Barry in 1971. Together they raised two girls who are now adults and living with their long-term partners; one daughter lives in Bristol, the other closer to home in Portsmouth.

When Elaine was young her passion was dancing. When qualified Elaine opened her own dancing school - The Bridgemary School of Dancing for those in Gosport who may remember! After three or so decades of teaching and after her daughters had left for university, Elaine decided to close her school and go back to work full time. This Elaine did for a few years but her passion for teaching never faded. After being made redundant Elaine decided to invest her redundancy payout to go back to teaching. Elaine chose to teach driving as it has always been one of her favourite things and she likes nothing better than a long drive in the countryside or along the seafront on a sunny morning!

Elaine committed to becoming a driving instructor and chose BSM to provide her driving instruction as she likes the high standard they train to and she remembers them from when she was a child and indeed as a young adult she passed her own driving test with them! Elaine trained hard, taking extra lessons at her own expense, as the standard that has to be reached is very high; exactly as it should be. Passing first time with flying colours Elaine took a franchise with BSM and then opened her own driving school. She is very happy to be teaching again and loves what she does immensely.

A word from Elaine

“I love what I do & I am totally committed to getting you to the standard required to pass your test as quickly as possible. I love teaching people to drive. I feel there is nothing better than seeing a nervous learner turn into a confident, safe and proficient qualified driver.

My absolute favourite part of teaching someone to drive is when I see the look on a pupil’s face when they have just been told they have passed their test. That’s total job satisfaction for me right there. Knowing that their life will change and the future has blown open for them and I have helped to do that is incredibly joyful and humbling.”
